I would love to try
it, but I want to be sure-- is BOTOX® safe?
A: BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple,
nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment and has been
reviewed and approved by the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA). It can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown
lines between the brows, safely and effectively. FDA approval
means that BOTOX has passed rigorous clinical testing before
it was allowed to be used in the USA.
Almost 3.3 million procedures were performed in 2005 alone—a
16% increase over 2004. BOTOX® is not just for models
and celebrities. People from all types of professions have
tried it. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
(ASAPS) ranked BOTOX® Cosmetic as the most popular physician-administered
aesthetic procedure in the United States for the fourth year
in a row (surgical and nonsurgical combined).

If I get
a BOTOX® treatment, will I still be able to make facial
expressions?
A: After treatment, you will
notice over the first week that the deep frown lines you once
had have smoothed out, however, BOTOX® Cosmetic will not
radically change your facial appearance. You can still smile,
frown, look surprised, but you will do so without the wrinkles
and creases between your brows.

How long do injectable
treatments last? Is there downtime after treatment?
A: This varies by product, and
also from person to person. BOTOX® typically lasts 4 months
for most people, but for some it can last up to 6 months.
Injectable fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm™
or Cosmoderm™ all vary from each other, however, you
can visit our Services
page for more information on how long each product typically
lasts for most people.
The beauty if injectable treatments such as BOTOX® is
that there is very little downtime. Many of our patients come
in for treatments on their lunch hour. Immediately following
treatment, you may experience slight redness, tenderness and
itching around the treated area. Fillers may cause some minor
temporary swelling, especially if used in the lips or around
the mouth area. This is a normal reaction, and these symptoms
generally disappear within a few days.
